The Independent Music Companies Association (IMPALA) has published the third annual edition of its Carbon Calculator Report, providing the most up-to-date picture of emissions across the independent recorded music sector.
Powered by JB, the IMPALA Carbon Calculator is the first bespoke environmental impact measurement tool designed specifically for independent labels. Now in its third year of reporting, the latest edition reflects significant methodological updates and expanded guidance, strengthening alignment with best practice and improving the accuracy of sector-wide data.
This year’s report highlights key developments to the calculator, including updated vinyl manufacturing factors informed by the latest research, expanded reporting categories, and improvements to user guidance and reporting outputs. It also outlines progress on international rollout, including a US pilot project, and reinforces the growing business case for sustainability within the independent sector.
