INTRODUCTION
Vicky joined Julie’s Bicycle in 2021 and leads the Arts Council England environmental programme. She works across the programme, focusing on leadership support for governance and resilience programme strands. She is particularly interested in exploring the connections between people, place and culture.
Vicky’s background is rooted in interdisciplinary research, evaluation and knowledge exchange, with a focus on the social impacts of environmental change and building long-term resilience. She brings over 18 years of professional experience working in disaster and climate resilience, spanning sectors including culture, academia, engineering and international development.
Vicky is an experienced facilitator with particular interests in participatory and co-design approaches. She has worked in partnerships with a wide range of organisations on large international programmes and projects on climate and disaster resilience and research for development, with a focus on understanding what works and how practice and programming can be strengthened.
Vicky is a social volcanologist and holds a Doctorate in Urban Sustainability and Resilience. She has lived in New Zealand and worked internationally, largely in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Sahel region in Africa.
