INTRODUCTION

Richard Phillips is a consultant and facilitator for sustainability in the music sector.

Richard provides climate and environmental expertise to organisations and professionals across the breadth of live and recorded music, from festivals and venues, to record labels, touring teams and more. His work includes advising on decarbonisation strategies, leading research deep-dives on industry-relevant sustainability topics, delivering technical carbon measurement and building environmental action networks.

His recent projects include developing practical environmental action toolkits for touring and festivals across Europe and the US, trialling new environmental standards for events (Green Events Code of Practice) and supporting a climate transition plan for festivals towards 2030.

Recent partners include the BRIT Awards, independent record label association IMPALA, live events industry association LIVE and sustainable festival network Vision for Sustainable Events.

Richard is motivated by collaborative action on the climate crisis that can unlock the potential of the creative industries to inspire societal change.
