Isabella Mooney

Music Sustainability Assistant

Isabella has recently graduated from BASc Arts and Sciences at University College London, an interdisciplinary course where their focuses included urban political ecology, creative practice, and cultural studies. Their final dissertation was a culmination of their work in which they explored the socioeconomic and political landscape of London’s food system in relation to community gardens through participatory workshops and their own creative practice.

The work united their interests in activism, sustainability, collective engagement, and public art. Alongside this, they sat as President of UCL’s Music Publication, Delilah Magazine, where they worked alongside a community to curate the online platform and produce two print editions focused on growing connections around music. Hence, Julie’s Bicycle’s work catalysing climate action through cultural engagement was something that motivated Isabella to join and contribute to their goals.

By joining Julie’s Bicycle, they have realised a lifelong goal to collaboratively facilitate opportunities for the intersection cultural engagement with climate action, something they recognise as essential to creating meaningful, long-lasting change.

Outside of work, Isabella continues to volunteer and fundraise with various organisations involved in conservation, student mental health, and support for those facing cancer. They enjoy making art out of various mediums including textiles, food, and their own body, hoping to soon reintroduce music to their repertoire by learning guitar.
